George is a student in Luwan Senior High School. He does well in school and has a clear goal for the future.
George decided to study in the BC program instead of going to the domestic school because he thinks the BC program can give him more freedom and more space to do the things he likes or he is interested in. The BC program is really different from the domestic school. It doesn’t have too much homework after school so he has more time to do his own things. It’s more meaningful. The teaching methods are also different but he is adapting well to this new system. He does well in school and has the highest marks in his class. He said that “basically my key to success is reviewing the knowledge that I learn in school.” Knowledge will also keep in our mind if we understand the key points in class, so it’s important to ask questions when you don’t understand.
Studying is not his whole life though. After school, he always plays football with his friends. When he was young, he was sent to a football school by his father. The coach who taught him how to play football said he has a lot of football talent and hoped he could stay there. But he thought he should go to junior school to finish his studies. Being a football player isn’t his ideal job. Although he left the football school, he didn’t give up playing football and this became one of his hobbies.
George can manage his time well. Sometimes interests may influence our studies. In George’s opinion, there’s no conflict between study and interests. He said that “we can manage our time reasonably and do well in both of them.”
George is not only good at playing football but also good at speaking German. The reason he is learning German is not only because of himself, but also his father. His father studied in Germany for many years, so he always told George his experience and taught George about Germany when George was young. Gradually, George grew more interested and wanted to learn German as well as his father. He said if he had one wish, he would wish to be a language professor.
UBC is George’s dream university. George’s mother is a psychologist, the same as his father. His mother affects him a lot. He decided to be a psychologist when he was only 10 years old. At that time, he made this decision because he saw his mother is successful and wanted to be like his mother. He still wants to be a psychologist, but the reason has changed. He found that he likes analyzing others thoughts through their actions. His mother told him that UBC has the best psychology in Canada. So, his goal now is to attend UBC.
George is such a good student. I believe he can be even more successful in the future.
