The BCOS Basketball Tournament took place in Sino-Canada High School on March 30th and 31th 2016. After two days of hard work, the championship for the boy’s team went to Maple Leaf Shanghai, and the championship for the girl’s team went to Sino-Canada again this year.
The Phoenix girls’ team played super hard to win SECOND PLACE overall (there were 9 teams in all). The Phoenix boys’ team got better at playing basketball as a team as well. All the boys and our coaches Mr. Misquith and Mr. Hazel cheered on the side while the girls’ team was playing their final game. “They really encouraged us during the game, I can feel the team spirit is building up,” said Jenny, a member of the Phoenix girls’ team. It is actually true that the team spirit of the Phoenix team is growing. “Your team was solid. I really respect those girls. I thought they played so well and hard,” Sino’s coach said, “This is an amazing group.”
Over the whole year of basketball training, the girls’ team got a lot better than last year. Not only did our skill improve, but we also changed our ways of thinking. We played hard, we respected the other teams, and we made new friends with the other teams. Sports is about competition, but on the other hand it is also about having fun and meeting new people. “I was impressed with the many occasions I saw players from different schools chatting, laughing, sharing contacts and taking pictures. The BCOS Basketball Tournament is something special,” said Mr. Daniels from Sino-Canada.
Playing basketball on the Phoenix team is an amazing high school experience. Feeling the pressure, love, encouragement, and enthusiasm from deep inside our heart is a precious experience. Once again, congratulations to both the Phoenix boys’ and girls’ team. I hope they can continue improving and win the championship next year.
