English Olympics is one of the events in the BC program’s repertoire. Students always have a lot of fun in this annual event. The activities included are different every year. Teachers are responsible for the organization of this event and they really try their best to improve this academic contest each year.

This year the events took place on the 6th floor. In a break from the past, the event was no longer restrained to “participants only”. Mr. Berg gathered all the students in the program to watch the game and enjoy the fun this year. It was great to see all the students sitting in one classroom doing everything they can to get some points for their house teams. The four games held this year lasted for two weeks. The singing game turned out to be the most popular one among the students. The highlight of this game was the entertaining atmosphere it could provide, which the simple “Scramble” contest or “Finding Words” of previous years could not provide.

“The game made everyone show the other side that we don’t really have a chance to see”, Tiffany from the red team said. “The teams that didn’t prepare any songs had to face the cruel reality where they had to sing the songs that Mr. Berg prepared for us, which are really bad children songs. Bad as they were, it was hilarious to see them getting into one of the most awkward moments of their lives.” A member of the grey team, Coco Li, laughed “The members from the orange, yellow, gray and pink teams are real warriors because it really took great courage for us to get on the stage and start singing a song that we didn’t even know.” She added that “we ended up getting a score of -20 in this game. Great game though!”

“We had a good time during the English Olympics,” Steven Wu, the main force of team Green, recalls. “It’s nice taking time out from studying to relax with fun activities like these. Not to mention that the Green Vipers actually won all four games!”
