Jomcy Zhao is a Grade 11 student in the Luwan BC program. She does well in school because she always works hard.

Jomcy’s mom thought Chinese education is a little meaningless in some aspects, so she recommended Jomcy study in the BC program. Jomcy also thought studying in the BC program could make her have more free time to do whatever she wants and the environment is more suitable for her, so she accepted her mom’s suggestion and chose to study in the BC program.

Actually, the subjects related to math are not as difficult as those subjects in Chinese education. Jomcy is good at Physics and Pre-calculus. She said she didn’t have special ways to study. “Just listen carefully in class and then you can get a good score. Of course, this principle is suitable for all the subjects.”

If you study in the BC program, having good English skills is very important. Besides reading, speaking, listening and watching films, Jomcy has her own way to improve English. She always talks to herself in English. For example, she likes telling herself what happened today in English. When she finds that she doesn’t know how to say something, she will search for it.

Through these methods, Jomcy improved her English quickly and took part in an English speech competition last term. The competition made her confident. She realized that maybe she could do presentations well after doing it. She really appreciates Mr. Berg giving her that chance to do the competition. She was satisfied and proud of herself too.

In her spare time, Jomcy likes playing some instruments, like the piano, the guitar and the clarinet. She also likes keeping pets, especially hamsters and dogs. Jomcy likes doing sports, although she isn’t good at them. She always plays Frisbee with her classmates and teachers. She thinks that makes them more united.

Jomcy said she isn’t the kind of person who organizes her future really well. For now, she thinks she will study business in university. If she can, she wants to be a housewife or a boss of a pet supply company, but she knows these are a little unrealistic. The realistic dream job for her is to be a piano teacher or a businesswoman.

Jomcy suggested that you “don’t force yourself to do the things you don’t like, but try to do the things you are afraid of. It means do not change your instinct but widen your external experience. Do whatever you want!”

Jomcy is really a good student. I believe she will realize her aim in the future
