Graduation season is quietly approaching while we’re still laughing and thinking about our memories of yesterday. On the 10th of June, Luwan Senior High School BC Program Class of 2017 Graduation Banquet was held successfully. All the teachers, students and their parents were welcomed to the party to celebrate this special day.
To hold this wonderful banquet, the graduation committees put in lots of effort. They spent more than four months to design this event. Looking for a proper venue, preparing some interactive games to enliven the atmosphere and all the decorations we saw on that night were also organized by them. Anny Chen, one of the committee members, expressed her thoughts on planning this event. “It was great to see everyone enjoy the party. Although the preparatory work is particularly complicated, it’s definitely worth it.” Most of the guests felt very satisfied with the arrangement. Tiffany’s mother specifically mentioned that the venue was suitable for this occasion and the food there was also good.
On that night, all the students looked very different than usual. Girls were wearing fancy dresses and high heels while boys were in well-tailored suits. Lindy joked, “It’s hard to recognize all the people at first sight. I need time to think about that.” At the beginning of the banquet, a short video made by Lychee was played in front of the visitors. Most of the pictures we took in these three years were included and this video reminded us all of the time we shared together since grade 10. Lots of people were touched deeply because of the coming farewell.
After a while, William and Steven Wu performed a lyric song together, which lead the banquet to the climax of the night. A game called “Read My Mind” began right after the performance. It was designed to test the rapport between parents and students. The host would ask both of them the same question and they could get a gift from the committee if they got the same answer. The most miraculous answer was from Krystal and her mother. The question was: “What’s your mother’s favorite food?” Can you believe that both of them answered water? All the people felt very surprised and I believe that must be the power of tacit understanding. Other participants also won the game.
Another impressive part must belong to Mr. Chang’s speech. We could actually feel his sincerity through those pages of his manuscript. Although he was a little bit nervous, he did a really good job in making a conclusion about our high school life. Meanwhile, he also gave us some suggestions about university life. Mr. Chang used a “3X3 Rubik’s cube” and “4X4 cube” to explain the difference between university and high school. “The theory of those two cubes is basically the same, but a 4X4 cube doesn’t have settled center. You need to set the center by yourself.” It was just an easy example, but it contained great intelligence.
Even the longest feast in the world has an end. After taking our last group pictures, our graduation banquet ended. Just as the invitation said, “Thousands of leagues may separate us, but it can never block my feelings for you.” We don’t need to feel sad about the farewell because people are moving on all the time. However, the time we spent together will be forever stored in our memories. Congratulations! Class of 2017!
