The Chess Tournament was held on November 28th and December 5th. It was a new house team competition organized by the student council. The tournament included flight chess, the Gobang, and Chinese chess.
In the group game on November 28th, students played Gobang and flight chess. Teams were awarded 1 point for a win in Gobang, 1 point for second place in flight chess and 2 points for first place. The Gobang game between Red Team’s Shirley Shen and orange team’s Micole Mao was a wonderful game. The two sides were quite wary, making the game close and lasting for half an hour. Besides, there were many comebacks in the flight chess games between the red, yellow and orange teams, which really excited the audience. In the end, yellow and green won 4 points and made it to the finals, while the grey and red team won 3 points and would compete for third place.
December 5th was the date of the final games. Each team sent its best Chinese chess player in order to win. In the game, grey team’s Jack Ye showed his great tactics and won easily. In the first 5 minutes, he made his opponent lose half his pieces. The final game result of the chess tournament is: green team 1st place, yellow team 2nd place and grey team 3rd place.
