On November 19, a hat design competition was held at Luwan BC. Each house team had to make a creative hat design for our school. The winners were chosen by the Student Council and teachers and the best design will be sold at school. After two weeks’ of efforts, the winners were finally selected. Let’s see the results!

First place is orange team. Their design does not include any fancy pictures but it is really clear and the word “Phenomenal” in the center of the design is emphasized. The designer made some comments about his idea: “We cancelled the plan of drawing pictures on it because we do not have an “artist” in our team. Instead, we tried to use simple color and words to express our idea. The word “Phenomenal” refers to the expectation of our BC program.”

Second place is pink team. Their design includes the Earth but in a heart shape, there is also a track around the heart-shaped Earth. Besides, the word “LWBC” is in a lovely font and it seems like the word is circuiting the track. The designer in pink team is really proud of her product: “We chose to include the Earth because we want to emphasize that the BC program is international. We made the Earth in a heart shape, but through the veins, others can easily recognize it is the Earth. We did this to show that BC students are imaginative and innovative, but meanwhile, we are also practical and realistic.”

Third place is Grey team. They put the four letters “LWBC” in a ball and used some exaggeration to represent the four letters: L is designed into a pen. W is made into a cat. B is shown by some growing vines. And C is shown by a cute snake. The designer on the Grey team said she preferred to include cartoons in the design. “L is like a pen writing on a notebook, it reveals how hard-working the students are. The idea of W comes from the cat in “Alice in Wonderland”. The growing vines for B show the vitality in order to reveal the enthusiasm of the students. Finally, the idea of the snake came from the sign of Slater Forestry College in Harry Porter.” What wonderful allusions Grey team had made!

The competition was really a big success! Appreciation to all of who have made efforts in this activity!
