On September 12th, some unusual sounds came from the usually silent gym. It was Luwan’s annual basketball tournament!

We often have events on Wednesday. This year, our basketball tournament began just two Wednesdays into the beginning of the term. For the tournament, two house teams were joined together into one. We also split the games into boys and girls, and the winner of the boys’ basketball tournament was able to challenge the teachers.

There were five matches on the first day of the tournament, two for the boys and three for the girls. The first day is always the most exciting day. The girls tried their best to play win for their own house team, even though most of them didn’t know the rules well. On the boys’ side, you could see two awesome games displaying excellent physical competition.

The next Wednesday was the finals of the basketball tournament. The winner from last week used their whole strength to fight for first place. It was a really wonderful match. The point spread was never over two points. Every time when a team scored, the next time the other team scored or even made a three point shot. After all that, Red and Yellow won first place and got a chance to have a match with the teachers.

Red and Yellow were so strong that we even thought the teachers would lose their championship this time. However, the teachers caught up really fast with an incredible attack by Mr. Berg. The students never gave up. Even in the last ten seconds they were leading by two points. Finally, Mr. Chang put the nail in the coffin with a three pointer. The tournament was finished and the teachers won the champion again.

The tournament was so fun and there are a lot of even more interesting events waiting for us this year.
