This past November, grade 10 and grade 12 students at Luwan Senior High School wrote different standardized assessments that are a graduation requirement for all BC students. The tests are in the areas of grade 10 numeracy, grade 10 literacy, and grade 12 literacy. Students are scored on a four-point scale, with 4 as a perfect score.
Just this past week, the test results were released, and we are happy to see that Luwan BC students have continued to show their outstanding abilities. In the area of grade 10 literacy, more than double the percentage of Luwan BC students scored a 4 compared to the BC offshore average, and 65.71% scored a three (compared to the BC offshore average of 42.7%). In the area of grade 10 numeracy, more than double the percentage of Luwan BC students scored a 4 compared to the BC offshore average, just like in the grade 10 literacy assessment, and 58.06% scored a 3 compared to the offshore average of 43.4%. Perhaps the most outstanding results lie in the grade 12 literacy exam, where almost 90% of Luwan BC students scored a 3 or 4 compared to the BC offshore average of a little over 60%. The significant increase in English literacy scores from grades 10 and 12 highlight the great success that students have at improving their English abilities during their 3 years at Luwan BC.
Please join us in congratulating Luwan BC students for their exceptional achievements!
