Gr. 12 – Star

Star in grade 12 is the star student of this semester. She has a kind but sincere heart; she pursues her goal persistently with a sense of responsibility. She has been making continuous progress in her academic achievements. Her excellent performance and sincere dedication have won the trust and respect of teachers and students.

In school, she enjoys studying biology. “The teacher will tell many interesting stories in class to help us remember, and sometimes there will be experiments that help me learn new knowledge.” During class, she listens attentively, thinks critically and speaks actively. While she has always been punctual and independent when completing assignments, she also won the first place Hypatia contest in 2021.

In addition, she participates in the school’s yearbook club. Under Mr. B’s supervision, she often discusses with other team members and uses her creative skills to design the pages illustrating the activities at school. The final product is highly praised by the teachers and the students.

Moreover, Star is willing to help her classmates and will try her best to help them when they are in trouble. In her spare time, Star likes to take photos to capture the plant’s beautiful moments. With her camera, she records the scenery that she sees and the people that she meets. She then shares her photos in her WeChat moments. She thinks it’s a great pleasure to share the beautiful photos that she takes with her friends.

She was surprised to receive the star student award. At first when she entered the race, she only wanted to participate. Her work habits, active participation and agreeable personality make her a great “star student. There is no doubt that she will have a bright future.

Gr. 12 – Christina

Christina from grade 12 also won the star student award this year. As the president of the student council in 2022, she not only maintains excellent academic results (principal’s list 11 times), she was also a “star student” in Grade 10. Since high school, she has been making continuous progress and made remarkable achievements in many aspects.

Out of all the courses, Christina likes new media the most. Each term, the teacher will provide a wide range of topics. Students are given a lot of freedom to explore and study a particular sub-topic that they are interested in. Since students of all three grades will take the same course at the same time, they will all be mixed and put into groups to study the topic together. This arrangement allows students of different grades to learn from each other and develop teamwork and communication skills. This learning experience allows Christina to understand the importance of cooperation.

In her spare time, Christina plays the flute and piano to relieve her pressure. “Playing flute helps me practice hand-eye coordination and the speed of my fingers,” she says. Her performance ensemble at the 2021 graduation ceremony was stunning and spectacular.

In terms of extracurricular activities, Christina founded the board games club when she was in G10. The board game club not only brings happiness to many classmates, it also gives Christina an opportunity to exercise her leadership skills. The club remains one of the most popular clubs and still runs every Friday in the library. In the student council, Christina has always been an active member since Grade 10. When she was in G10, she served as the representative of G10. In G11, she served as the Secretary of G11. This year, she serves as the president of the student council. With the help of other members in the student council, she has organized many engaging, meaningful activities, which includes the mini games in the Halloween and Christmas events.

Upon receiving the star student award, Christina has expressed her appreciation for the school’s recognition and her goal to stay enthusiastic and active.

Gr. 11 – Irene

Irene is a grade 11 student in LWBC and she is also a Star student this year. When I knew that she was a star student, I was not surprised at all because I thought she is a worthy candidate.

Her academic performance is excellent. When I asked her what her favourite subject is, her answer was – “chemistry”. She enjoys the process of unraveling the mysteries and finding the truth. Particularly, she enjoys doing experiments in class.

Furthermore, Irene developed a wide range of interests and talents, which includes playing the violin, playing frisbee, singing, playing billiards, and watching movies. She is optimistic, cheerful and kind to others, allowing her to make a lot of friends in school. Moreover, Irene had many great achievements in school; she is always in the Principal’s List and Honor Roll. She is also an active member of the school’s student council.

When we talked about our life in LWBC, Irene told me that the program helped her to become a better person and gave her a clear sense of purpose. She thought the learning atmosphere in LWBC was excellent. The teachers in LWBC were very enthusiastic in teaching and all students worked together cooperatively and respectfully. She could always express her ideas and actively participate in any group discussions. In addition to class learning, teachers also attach great importance to extracurricular activities. This makes her learn to balance study and play so that she won’t feel particularly tired or bored.

Irene’s goal is to keep working hard to complete all the tasks assigned by the teachers, which will keep her on the right track. She will set higher expectations for herself to  make further breakthroughs. Overall, Irene is self-demanding, kind and courageous. There is no doubt that she will realize her dream.

Gr. 11 – Betty

Betty has been nominated as a star student in grade 11. She has many bright spots.

When she speaks freely about her interests, I can feel her passion. She enjoys travelling to new places and taking photos with her own camera. When travelling, she likes making friends with people of different ages. Her interest in taking photos makes her an active member of the school’s yearbook club. She is also a talented dancer. She has done Chinese folk dance, Zumba and K-pop dances.

Her passion for learning carries over to her studies as well. She tells me that her favourite class is history.  History classes inspire her to develop critical thinking skills when examining historical events. She is able to use historical thinking concepts to write essays with accurate word usage, adequate reasoning and concrete evidence. She believes learning about different citation styles such as MLA, APA, and Chicago styles will be useful in university as well.

When we discuss making changes in LWBC, Betty expresses the most important skills that she is developing in LWBC is teamwork. She learns how to cooperate with others and make friends from different grades. Furthermore, she feels comfortable expressing her feelings with friends, as they have been quite supportive. Studying in LWBC allows her to develop her own interests and set long-term goals. While receiving honor roll and principal list awards, she is also a champion in the science fair.

In the future, she will also keep working hard to stay on the Principal List. In G12, she plans to get involved in the student council and apply her strengths to contribute to school activities. As a great planner, Betty will definitely continue to shine in the future and become the person she wants to be.

Gr. 10 – Darwin Zhu

Written by Frank Chen

Darwin often uses a quote by Russell -“great outcomes are the result of hard work, we should not avoid difficulties.” He is inspired and motivated by this quote in his life journey. As a friend, Darwin is one of the most persevering and talented students I have ever met.

Darwin has a big dream, and a big dream requires persistent hard work. His goal is to go abroad to London, and if possible, get a chance to work internationally. Darwin’s dream university is University College of London. He plans to pursue economics and finance in the future. When I asked him what keeps him working so hard, his answer was simple: “because that is my dream!”. He told me that “there is no other phrase in the English language more harmful than ‘Good Job’.” He believes that we should never be satisfied with what we have done well. Instead, we should focus on what we can become. With this mindset, Darwin is able to push himself to reach his ultimate goal.

“It’s never too soon to make plans.” Indeed, planning ahead helps us manage time wisely and become flexible. Instead of being reactive without any proper planning, being proactive allows Darwin to take the right action in the face of any challenges. This habit is demonstrated not only in the process of pursuing his life goals but also in his school life. As the class monitor of his grade, he is able to organize the class and form unity among classmates. In this school years second term, during the charity sale, strict planning and team management were carried out, which made the whole preparation process of the charity sale organized and effective. As a result, grade 10 students were able to achieve a great outcome from the sale.

How Darwin makes use of his leisure time is surprising. Darwin has a great passion for sports. He is a member of the Kraken Ultimate Frisbee team of the school. He actively participates in training, goes through daily frisbee exercises with the team, and takes part in matches with other schools. Darwin is still trying to challenge new types of sports. Now that he has mastered skiing, rock climbing, boxing, and other different sports, he is trying to add more lustre to his extracurricular activities. Furthermore, Darwin is currently a member of the Changning District Youth Calligraphy group. Over the years, he has participated in calligraphy practice every week, participated in district and municipal calligraphy competitions regularly, and obtained at least two certificates every year. Last semester, he participated in the calligraphy competition in Changning District on behalf of his calligraphy club. In addition to maintaining his studies, through nearly a term of self-study and practicing, he managed to win the second prize in Changning District and enter the city competition for his calligraphy design.

Fame follows merit. Darwin is the epitome of a true Star Student, as he is such a persevering and talented student.

Gr. 10 – Elaine Zhonglu

Written by Frank Chen

“My goal is to realize financial freedom,” said Elaine. “It isn’t just about being rich and having lots of money, but having enough to cover daily expenses so that I can spend my precious time doing things that I like rather than being a money machine and doing things just to earn money.” By listening to that and having a discussion with Elaine, I found her to be a strong-minded and talented girl who pursues her dreams with maximum effort

Getting into the University of Toronto is the first big aim of Elaine’s high school life. To realize that dream, Elaine has put lots of effort into her learning process, and meanwhile gives up some things so that she can focus more on her studies. She gained high grades continuously in the first two terms with a GPA of 3.92. The effort behind that is enormous. Elaine actively participates in classes and puts time and determination into the assigned work. To improve her math, she gave up all the phone games or computer games for three whole terms to practice her math homework. In addition, she is also preparing for her IELTS test. She sets her goal to reach a score of 6.0 or above in her first official test. As a result, Elaine seems to be very determined with her goals.

Elaine’s determination is also shown in the things that she loves. For instance, she loves dancing, and nothing can stop her from pursuing that dream. Although the school dance team disbanded in the middle of term three, and she had practiced in it for two and a half terms, she decided to go to her mother’s school to practice dancing every Wednesday after school. I remember first noticing Elaine’s talent for dancing during her Christmas performance. Also, drawing is one of her interests as well. So far, she has learned two complete dances and finished three fluid paintings. Elaine is planning on learning a new dance in her spare time and performing it next Christmas. At school, Elaine also demonstrates a great sense of leadership. She is the monitor and league branch secretary of her class and a member of the recreation and sports department of the School Student Council. She has organized and presided over many class meetings in the past three terms. She is also responsible for broadcasting to the whole school every three weeks during Monday’s lunch break.

As a result, Elaine is a girl with great determination and is full of excellent talents. She is truly worthy of being a Star Student this term.

Though the stars today are already shiny enough, yet more stars will rise and win our astonishment with their dazzling brightness. This term, three students were awarded as star students. They deserve this honour for being capable and helpful through their participation in the community. Let us move the spotlight onto them:

Gr. 12 – Aileen Song

As the class monitor of Grade 12 in Luwan BC, Aileen Song always aims herself to a higher goal. Being self-disciplined and responsible for all intricate affairs for the class is how the other students regard her in their eyes. She also dedicates her capacity of management to Kraken, the frisbee team. As a team manager, after each exciting game, Aileen records the score, saving every highlight and keeping them as a forever memory. Aileen has a lucid mind, whether as a manager in or as a student in each class. She can always come up with new solutions or unique perspectives in math class. And she would like to major in mathematic in university and carry out her effort and quality as she always does.

Gr. 11 – Anita Zhou

Students from grade 10-12 all know Anita Zhou for her bright ideas and hearty working style. Anita always plays a solid role in teamwork; her dependable management skills and depth of thinking make her a student who stands out from the crowd. She is a learned person and a devoted learner; every moment she spends on learning is enjoyable to her. “The sensation of working hard towards a better self makes me feel content,” she said. With all the time and energy she poured into her work, most recently, on the science fair held by the entire Luwan BC, Anita won first place and was awarded a T-shirt with an “Au” on it marking Anita’s golden achievement. As a star student, she would keep up her excellence and enjoy her way to meet tomorrow’s self.

Gr. 10 – Peter Zhu

Peter Zhu radiates an unseen sense of trustworthiness and solidarity around him. Such insight is built up by his participation in his class and his great managerial ability. He may be seen as a sports star; with the talent and all the sweat and pain he put into training, he has become an extraordinary basketball player who regards basketball as a hobby that will live with him forever. Speaking of another thing, he has other aspirations as well. For example, he participates in the student council. As a G10 representative, he is always willing to be more focused on what he can bring to Luwan BC’s student council. He values himself and looks forward to meeting more chances to offer his part to contribute to a better student council environment. Quoting his words, “I feel like I am more than what I can do now. And when I genuinely dedicate myself to my work, I feel like I have achieved something. For real.” Peter made a strict goal for himself to improve each time when having an activity: How to convey the theme and spirit of this activity? How to arrange students in a more efficient way? How to conduct the plan and make it into reality? His creative ideas can always solve all the questions raised by him. He will become more and more capable and create more and more marvellous work as both a wonderful player and an important member of the council.

Though the stars today are already shiny enough, yet more stars will rise and win our astonishment with their dazzling brightness.

Vanessa, a tenth grader in Luwan Senior High School is one of the Star Students this past semester. With her positive attitude and solid effort, she excels in various courses. For a freshman, it is not easy to adapt the new patterns of learning. About this matter, Vanessa has summarized some tips. “Communicating with teachers and classmates is really helpful for practicing spoken English. Moreover, doing homework on time can make us better understand the knowledge,” she added, “It is crucial to understand the notes instead of copying automatically.” These methods help her achieve outstanding academic performance.

She also has actively participated in many clubs at school, such as music club and yearbook club. As a member of music club, she is proficient in piano. She believes that playing the piano relaxes her mind and adjusts her mood. In addition, performing with members gives her the opportunity to learn to collaborate and build friendly relationships with different people.

Vanessa thinks it is a great honor to be the Star Student. She said, “It is the recognition and encouragement for me to keep working hard which enhances my confidence as well.” We believe Vanessa will continue to maintain her good grades with an excellent learning foundation.

The Star Student from Grade 11 is Virginia. “She is a warm-hearted and obliging person” one of her classmates said. As a Grade 11 representative, she is willing to do favors for others. When her classmates have some concerns or have problems in learning, she always answers their questions politely and helps them seek possible solutions. Virginia trusts that while getting along with others, she can also learn from others, consider things from others’ perspectives and become more open-minded. Additionally, as a member of the student council, she has brought a lot of useful opinions based on what students need. She clearly understands her duties and completes her tasks efficiently.

Furthermore, Virginia is involved in multiple activities. She is receptive to new knowledge and has a wide range of interests such as painting and playing basketball. In fact, she has joined the debate club recently. In order to make her perspective more persuasive, she did related research about the debate topic. She said, “Participating in the debate club can develop my logical thinking and critical thinking skills.” Debate trains her ability to respond in a short time with proficient language.

Whether study or activities, Virginia takes them seriously all the time. Her behaviors and attitude show her Star Student award is well deserved. “I feel so excited to achieve this award. It motivates me to make progress and promote myself.” We are looking forward to her progress in the future.

Since Beatrice entered high school, she has maintained an excellent academic performance till now. She has been on the Principal’s List every term and has consistently achieved a 4.0 GPA. She has received numerous awards such as the Grade 10 Star Student Award, the Social Studies 10 Top Student Award, and one of the most prestigious district awards in Shanghai in recognition of her academic and personal achievements. There is no doubt to say Beatrice is a high-achieving student.

Moreover, as being the President of the Student Council, Beatrice has extensive experience leading diverse people. “I believe the differences within a team can bring challenges but also opportunities,” she said. She embraces different voices and combines various perspectives, focusing on teammates’ strengths and skill sets to achieve common goals. With her extraordinary leadership and the assistance of teachers, the student council has successfully organized several school activities which allow everyone to get involved.

Behind these titles, Beatrice is an easy-going and considerate person who gets along well with others. When her classmates meets adversity, she often comforts them patiently and provides pertinent advice. Also, she has a sense of humor which makes people feel relaxed when staying with her.

Congratulations to all the Star Students! I hope they can make persistent efforts and keep moving forward. At the same time, we can consider them as role models and learn from them.

As the covid-19 pandemic is not over yet, the school year is not the same as before. In addition to school uniforms, students also wear big masks. Before entering school, they ought to take their temperature in order to ensure their own securities every day. Teenagers carry disinfectant, hand sanitizer and paper towels in their schoolbags. For the purpose of protecting our health and safety, the school has also done a lot of protective measures. For instance, every corner of the school has been disinfected; infrared thermometers as well as hand sanitizing sprays have been installed at the school gate; temporary isolation points have been set up beside the medical room and students are required to take their temperature both before entering the classroom and after eating lunch.

Aside from that, we take part in both online courses and traditional ones in the classroom as our daily necessities. Previously, students have own online class at home with less supervision, where students may completely run away, leaving their devices and playing while the online courses are taking place; or even falling asleep without anyone noticing. But now as we are having online lessons in the classroom with the camera on, there is no need to concern about anyone not paying attention to their teachers. However, there is still one drawback, the internet in the classroom is not always good enough to operate the online classes normally. Students have different opinions toward having online lessons in the classroom. Scott said, “As the pandemic still infesting, teachers were having a hard journey to come back to school. Even just missing a couple of teachers in school is a great loss to the program. Fortunately, we are using a new way of online meeting that can make the entire class participate and also allows teachers to be in the part of the class. Though Internet would sometimes face difficulty in connecting, this method is way more effective than in the quarantine time.” While “I think having online classes are really hard these days. Our internet always goes wrong, and I can’t even focus after the class had finally started. Before I can put my mind back to studying, the internet went wrong again. However, everything is heading towards the good way. After one week we don’t have to suffer from internet issues anymore! We can see all the teachers in person!”, another student in Grade 12, Beatrice said.

Anyhow, as being new Grade 12s, we need to keep studying hard no matter how the external conditions change so as to get into ideal universities and programs. Jacky mentioned, “In this new semester, we experienced both traditional learning style as well as e-learning. Sometimes there is network delay and we might miss some important parts of the course. In order to get full understanding of the units that we covered, I will check course materials more often after each class. Moreover, courses in Grade 12 are quite demanding to me, therefore I need to make more effort and balance time between study, life and application to universities.”

Overall, I think this new semester is giving us an opportunity to grow and adapt. Arranging time properly is vital for all of us. Dividing the time of the day into several parts can help us avoid boredom and inefficiency caused by long-time concentration and doing one thing.

I want to introduce Christina to you today. Christina is a student from Luwan High School. She does well in her studies, but she is never arrogant. I usually see her review of what she had learned during the lesson after class. This shows that she is a really diligent student. As the saying goes, seeing someone who is better work even harder than you is a frightening thing to see. Seeing her work super hard while being really talented has inspired me to work even harder at school as well. Besides, she is very friendly. If you have any questions you need to ask her, she’s always here and never gets bored. “We may be able to make progress together and help each other at the same time to consolidate our knowledge. So why not help each other?” she explained.

Her favourite subject during middle school was English. So far in high school, she thinks all of the subjects have been good. I think she has a good concentration. You will not see her focus wander in class. She always devotes herself to class. And she is also very modest. If she has questions, she will not hesitate to ask her classmates. Even if she asks a student who normally isn’t a high achiever, she will not feel humiliated or embarrassed. Instead, she will listen carefully to others’ opinions and discuss with them. When I asked why she did that, she smiled and said quietly, “I think it’s a good habit and quality, and everyone has different opinions. Listening to others may yield a lot of good for me.”

In her spare time, she likes playing the piano, the flute, and playing board games. Doing these things can make herself relaxed. “Why don’t you do some exercises if you have time? It’s good for your health,” she suggested. What’s more, she sometimes reads novels and psychology books. Her favorite book is “Tomb Raider Notes”, which is full of frightening and exciting things. “I think these books can make me more creative and increase my courage. It’s useful, I think. I’m sure I’ll know what good it will do for me in the future.”

She told me that her ideal school is the U of T or MIT. She used to want to study psychology, but after hearing some experiences of students in higher grades who have gone on to study psychology in universities, she started to hesitate. She thinks that she should re-choose a major as soon as possible. Her positive attitude also infected me, so I now also look forward to what the future holds for me. “I think I currently am not good enough to get into that school, so I should try harder. But my goal in the near future is to achieve good results on my IELTS exams,” she spoke with a firm gaze.

When I asked her what her plan was for life after college, she said that there are still seven years, and many things will change. “I actually don’t know what my plan is. All I know now is to do your best and work harder.”

She has planned to go abroad ever since she was in junior high school, which is why she chose to enter the BC program. I think her personality and her determination definitely qualifies her to be the star student!

“Why did you choose to study in the Luwan BC Program?”

“It offers me a chance to go abroad and can also improve my communication skills. And you know as long as you walk into an unfamiliar environment, you’ll have to manage your own life and learn to be responsible and independent.”

Virginia is an optimistic and responsible girl. When I asked her what she thought of studying, she told me that studying not only makes you more knowledgeable but also broadens your mind and improves your critical thinking abilities. “Many a little makes a mickle!” As we just spoke of the way of studying, she added, “I think that listening to what teachers say in class is always the most important part of studying. You should take notes and go over them after class, and practice regularly.”

She doesn’t have an ideal university that she is totally in love with for now, but she likes the drama classes in school right now. I asked her why and she told me that she likes the feeling of communicating with other people. She can share happiness and sadness with them and can receive comfort from communication. “I love performing. Drama is a subject that really tests your language skills, so I’m sure that I will benefit a lot from it,” she said with a smile on her face.

Enough words about studying, let us talk about Virginia’s daily life.

Virginia loves watching movies in her spare time, but do not ever make her watch a horror movie. She hates horror movies because she doesn’t like the feeling of being scared by someone else. It’s a terrible feeling, even for me. Also, she loves drawing. I’ve seen how well she can draw as she was one of the participants who drew the drawings in our class blackboard, which lies in the back of our classroom. To be honest, those drawings were really amazing. On top of the drawing, she also loves reading books and playing basketball. Although her playing skills are not the best, she loves running on the court because it makes her feel free while running. “At least it’s better than sitting in the classroom and doing nothing, right?” she added. We both laughed after that.

When I asked her what she wanted to improve in the next two years, she said, “I think I should be more confident while talking to others. And of course, I’ll have to improve my communicating skills so that I can speak with others more fluently.”

Virginia is a good student. She doesn’t even play video games! I think that Virginia is truly worthy of being the star student this month!

Frank Chen is our star student this month. He is friendly, hard-working, and the other students all like to be friends with him. He said that his favorite sport is definitely basketball. He likes playing video games, watching some movies, and reading science-related books as well as other kinds of books during the weekends.

The reason for him choosing the BC program is that his parents wanted him to go abroad and study. He also wanted to improve his thinking and communication abilities, which also led him to choose the BC program over a traditional Chinese high school program. When he arrived in the BC program on the first day, he felt that his classmates were friendly, hard-working, and funny. “I would like to stay with other classmates and share my feelings when I am happy, excited, and sad,” he said with a smile. He also told me some methods and advice about how to study. First, you need to be focused on what the teacher is saying. Second, you should take notes and go over them after class. Third, you should do your homework by yourself before seeking help. Finally, work through some practice problems and ask questions when you are confused.

His favorite class is Drama class with Mr. Law. “I think that the drama lessons are very interesting, and it can improve my English level as well. We play some games, tell jokes and scary stories, and act,” he said.

He is good at drawing. He can draw many cartoon characters and they all look just like the original. He is also good at playing basketball too. He thinks playing basketball not only makes him healthy, but also makes him feel happy. Having both skills in the arts and sports, you could say that Frank is a complete student.

Not only is Frank good at studying, but he also has a kind heart. He always helps other students. When someone can’t understand what the teacher said, he helps him/her to understand all the time. When someone cannot solve a math problem, he can help them to work it out. He always listens carefully in class and does the work very well. Teachers like him very much. He also often reviews the lessons and study extra lessons during the weekends.

Frank told me his dream university is the University of Toronto. He has not done a lot of research about the university, but he knows that U of T has a good medical science program. He told me that maybe he will study medical science because he wants to help sick people. “That’s what I think for now, maybe it will be changed after two years when I am close to graduating. I am still figuring out where my interests and passions lie.”

I think Frank always behaves well. He never copies others’ homework, never ignores the teachers’ words, and is never rude to the teachers. He is popular among the students and respects everyone around him. He is honest. He talks with others with an open heart. He never says a bad word about other students to someone else. He never loses his temper to anyone. When he meets difficulties, he never gives up. With all that in mind, I think Frank Chen deserves to be the star student.

Anita, the monitor of our class, has a strong sense of responsibility, and is warm-hearted, kind, and easy-going.

Anita always helps our classmate with academic questions or any other daily trifles. When we face some difficulties in studying or in life, she always gives us a hand without any complaints or hesitations until it achieved completely. Once I had encountered some difficulties with a math problem. She came to me and explained the questions to me patiently until I understood. Thanks to her, I used the same method on the exam and got a good academic performance.

What she is also good at are singing and video editing. She is extremely keen on making some videos about our school life. In addition, as an art fan, she also attends lots of singing clubs or singing contests as well and obtains marvelous results in these competitions.

I asked her about the most wonderful place that she had ever been to. Anita thinks that Guangdong is the most unforgettable city. “It’s an enormous city which has a large population,” Anita recalled. “The food is very delicious, especially the Wonton noodles.” She also said that the juicy shrimp and the smooth noodles really increase her appetite. The biggest difference between Guangdong and other cities is the GDP is rising fast but the life there is still slow. They even have time to eat breakfast for whole day. The people’s living standard there is high due to the hard work of citizens. It can be said that they can enjoy all the benefits of a good lifestyle due to their own passion and hard work.

After class I always see her asking teachers about academic questions or reviewing the lessons in her seat and without paying any attention to outside influence. In addition to studying, she also does some exercises during her breaks. For instance, she sometimes will be wandering in the corridors to clear her mind and relax. After school, she also participates in the Frisbee club. Her brilliant talent in sports always allows her to be praised by the coach. Although the training lasts until six o’ clock, she still treats the training seriously and stays energetic the next day.

Anita’s methods of studying are to watch some English movies or to read some masterpieces to improve her vocabulary and listening skills. The key to learning English is not only to remember all the words, but also to hunt for and find the shortcut to learning. Her parents are always busy with businesses and seldomly have the opportunity to accompany her, but her strong sense of self-regulation allows her to achieve a high academic standard.

Anita’s dream job is to be an AI engineer or a biologist. The National University of Singapore and The University of Waterloo are her dream schools. She wants to further her study in these schools in order to get a good degree in the future and to find a good career in order to make contributions for her nation.

And as an interesting ending to our interview, I really wanted to know what she would do if she has enough money and enough time. Her decision was to go abroad with her family because her family are always busy with work, meaning they don’t have enough time to relax. She has been to too many cities in China so she wants to go abroad to broaden her horizons and relax. What’s more, she also want to use these time to communicate with her parents, go sightseeing with them and enhance their relationships.

Therefore, I think that Anita is a star student.
