Luwan BC’s table tennis competition was finally completed last Wednesday, 12/28/2016. The girl’s finals and semifinals took place two weeks later than the boys’ games since all the students were studying hard last Wednesday at lunch time. Congratulations to Lychee Zhou from Grade 12 & Price Zhu from Grade 10 for earning first place. The second place for the girls and the boys are Jessica Zhang 12 & Steven Qiu 12, then the third place students are Lola Liu 11 & Jerry Liang 12. Also, thanks to the other teachers and students who played with effort and brought us enjoyable memories. Talking about teacher players, Mr. Chang, our new BC teacher, who is also in charge of our fitness club, was extremely excited after his first game. Mr. Chang completed his mission during that battle–beating Gorge. The day before the competition started, Mr. Chang kept practicing his Ping-Pong skills after school. Students who were there with Mr. Chang said Mr. Chang couldn’t help saying “I just wanna beat Gorge” and “I’m gonna beat George” when he was training. For Mr. Chang, this table tennis competition gave him enough satisfaction.
Jessica from grade 12, the second place winner who is also the captain of the yellow team said “Friendship is always the most important part of the game, then comes the result. The purpose of attending the competition should be training oneself, relaxing from the hard work and socializing. Isn’t that the beauty of competition?” This is truly the best description of the spirit of sports. In addition, while this event was going on, a bunch of unexpected twists happened, like Jeff from grade 12 who had never played Ping-Pong before got 4th place; John from grade 12 who was the strong favorite to take the win got knocked out in the first round; and two yellow team members played each other during the quarterfinal… There were so many unpredictable things taking place in only a short lunch time. Just like Ms. Park used to say during class, “life is so hard, and you just gotta learn how to deal with it.”
