Sherry Wei (grade 12)
Over the past two Wednesdays, students attended the badminton tournament, which was our first sports school event after the Chinese New Year. The tournament was separated to 2 parts: the early round on Mar. 6th and the final rounds on Mar. 13th. The six house teams were combined into 3 big teams, Grey team with Red, Green with Pink and Yellow with Orange.
For the boys, the champion the year before, Price Zhu from Grade 12, showed his strong badminton strategy once again, and made it into the final game. His opponent was Jerry Zheng from Grade 11, who beat their teacher, Mr. Chang, in the semifinals. Finally, Price Zhu won 11:2 and became the champion of the boys for the second time. After the game, he had mentioned that Jason in Grade 10 did well when he played against him, making ending the game at 11:8. We are looking forward to a new Luwan BC badminton star.
On the other hand, the girl’s games were also competitive. In the semifinals, Yvonne Liu and Shirley Shen both from Grade 11 played against each other, but they were actually from the same group. After a friendly game, Yvonne Liu got into the finals. The other player in the finals was Aileen from Grade 10. She had joined in a badminton club before, so she knew the rules and the strategy well. Aileen won the champion in the end.
Congratulations to the champions and their group Green & Pink. Hopefully everyone enjoyed the badminton tournament.
